Airbrushing? (Secret MUA business!)

My resident MUA guru, Michelle Cottam was recently talking to me about ‘airbrush makeup’ and I must have had a bit of a puzzled expression on my face because she sent me this awesome list of reasons why you need to seriously consider it for your big day!  How cool is she?!?!?! So…what exactly is Airbrush Makeup? Airbrushed foundation is applied via a customised compressor and airbrush gun, using a liquid based makeup that is pure pigment mixed with a liquid component. In the blink of an eye…

Its been months if not years in the making.  You’ve spent countless hours thinking, planning, organising, negotiating, meeting, booking and creating this amazing day ahead of you and now it is here.  Your wedding day has arrived.  Months and years spent planning for these next 12 or so hours of sheer and utter joy, love, fun and happiness with perhaps a dash of silliness and craziness thrown in for good measure.  And it will all be over in the blink of an eye…or at least itView full post »

So you’d like a sparkler exit?

As sad as it may be when your wedding day eventually (inevitably?) comes to an end there can be a whole heap of fun in the way you leave your wedding.  Growing in popularity (mainly because they are just AWESOME!) is the sparkler exit which sees all your guests holding burning sparklers, lining the path of your exit as you two lovebirds walk up the middle to the cheers and goodbyes.  It really is an amazing, magical moment! You might be somewhat surprised to learn though that an exit such asView full post »

Nikki & Brendon // Married

I don’t think I could have asked for better weather for this wedding…simply stunning weather coupled with the gorgeous spring backdrop of Core Cider House and of course the beautiful bride, Nikki and her debonair man, Brendon.  The orchard was in bloom (finally!), love was well and truly in the air, and these two lovebirds were an absolute treat to work with (although I already knew this from their engagement session!) Hope you enjoy!View full post »

Help me to help you!

Something a little different for today’s blog…I need your help.  I’ve been writing a series over the last little while that is my way of giving back to the bride-to-be community that has supported my little business over the years.  After photographing numerous weddings in a variety of locations, weather conditions etc I have built a bit of an experience bank on what things make a big impact to the way your images will turn out.  Simple things that you can do for your day andView full post »

Sharleen & Asher // Core Cider House

What can I say about this day other than it was cold, wet, windy and dark but that didn’t dampen, cool or blow away the amazingness of it all!  Sharleen & Asher were married out at Core Cider House during a remarkably cold spring October where most of the orchard hadn’t even thought about turning to blossom!  With it raining for the ceremony we moved undercover and afterwards zipped off to Kalamunda town for some of the formals.  Thankfully we were able to head out to theView full post »

Three more things to know…

Last time I told you about being left handed, playing lots of soccer and that delicious chocolatey brilliance known as rocky road.  I thought it was time for three more things…so here you go. I’m the baby of the family That’s right…all hail the last child!  I was born into a world where I had (and still have) two older sisters, making me the ‘baby’ of the family.  There is eight years difference between me and my oldest sister, Sarah, and five yearsView full post »

Four tips for the morning of your wedding

Tip 1: Timelines are key All of my couples will attest that the very first time we meet in my studio and talk about you and your wedding we will also talk timelines. Why? Because they are so very important to the smooth running of your day! Knowing things like how long your hair and makeup people need and how long your dress takes to put on (plus accessories) will really help make your timeline stronger. I’ve seen a dress take three times longer than expected (not known…expected) causing theView full post »

Maddy & Patrick

I first met this lovely couple back when I was still offering family portraits and I photographed Maddy’s awesome family at one of my favourite locations along the escarpment.  I clearly made an impression on them as they then went on to choose me to photograph their wedding!!  Super excited for their wedding later this year in December!!  We headed out to Core Cider House in Pickering Brook to source some orchard blossom to capture some engagement images for these two.  It was a confusedView full post »
